

Sally was born to George H. and Lucile Doherty (nee Fitzgerald) in Tacoma WA, where she grew up. She graduated from St. Leo’s grade school and high school in Tacoma (now known as Bellarmine Preparatory School). She is a graduate of Mt. Angel College in Mt. Angel, OR and Marylhurst University in Marylhurst, OR.
Sally worked as a corporate librarian for Boeing in Seattle as well as management-consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton in New York City. She later did a brief stint as a school librarian at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus NJ.
Sally survived her husband Lawrence W. Morris of Paterson NJ, who died in 1985. They settled in Fair Lawn NJ, where they raised their two children. Sally was an avid reader. Hobbies over the years included traveling, gardening, and going to museums, plays, and other cultural activities in NYC. She was passionate about her Irish heritage. She loved animals, especially cats. She also volunteered for many years at Birthright, a prolife pregnancy resource center. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Anne’s Church in Fair Lawn NJ. Sally was intelligent, caring and strong-willed, with a sharp wit.
Sally is survived by her daughter Anne Morris of Fair Lawn NJ, her son Lawrence and his wife Amy Morris of Reading PA and Cambridge England, and her grandchildren Eoin, Caitriona, Mairead, Colm, and Nathaniel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was a beloved “favorite aunt”. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Doherty and Vera Morris. Surviving friends include childhood friend Arlene Russell (nee Bauer), 95, as well as close family friends. Sally was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Jane Reilly, George Doherty, Mary Yagle, and Brian Doherty. She was especially close to Brian, as they were the two youngest, barely a year apart in age.
Sally will be laid to rest on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle, Washington, 5041 35th Ave NE.
Visitation held 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16th at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, Seattle.
