
Shirley Marie Ross died peacefully among family and friends Sunday morning September 7th, 2008.
Shirley was born on August 22, 1928 in Seattle, Washington. Shirley grew up in Aberdeen, Washington and was raised by Ida and John Davey. Shirley attended Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen where she met the love of her life, John Frederick Ross. They married in 1946 and shared 58 years of cherished family life. In 1952 son Michael John was born and then in 1961 Shirely gave birth to daughter Suzanne Marie. Shirley and John raised their children in the Mapleleaf neighborhood of Seattle. While their children were in school, Shirley worked at the local Safeway Store for 18 years, and always had dinner on the table by 6pm.
Then in 1985, Shirley and John moved to Hamilton, Washington on the Skagit River. There they fished, made friends, and were leaders of the Eagle Watchers Club. They loved the out of doors and living on the river.
In 2002, Shirley returned to the Mapleleaf house after the sudden death of her beloved husband John.
Shirley loved her animals, camping, canning, clam digging, games of Skip-Bo, the Mariners, her neighbors, her friends, and most dearly her family. She is remembered by her daughter Suzanne, her son Michael and Anna, grandchildren Whitney and Corby, her sister Beverly and John Storrs, sister Pat and Herm Elvsaas, sister Penny Edwards, brothers John and Ron Kohler, and her many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 12th at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle. There will be a viewing one hour before the service.
