Susan Kay Boyce nee Schlimpert passed away in Seattle, WA on February 12 2025, after a long illness. Susan loved her family. She is survived by her daughter Michele Boyce Ley (Daniel Ley) and her daughter Jennifer Boyce-McNeill (Eric McNeill) and by her grandchildren, Logan Ley (18), Flora Boyce-McNeill (15), Lauren Ley (13), Durham Boyce-McNeill (12), as well as her sister, Judy Redlich (Ray Redlich) and nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Boyce, her mother and father, and her sister Donna. We are sure that she is rejoicing to be reunited with them in Heaven.
Susan loved Jesus with all her heart. This love shone through her in how she treated others. Despite a life-altering diagnosis 16 years ago, she always had a smile and a kind word. Those around her were touched by her graciousness and compassion. She was generous with her time and her resources, cultivating friendships across the country and helping others in need.
Susan loved her daughters and was proud that they chose to serve others through their work. She was proud of the families they created and felt loved by them in return. She loved her grandchildren immensely, and was delighted to see the individuals that they are becoming. She enjoyed playing games with them and hearing about their day to day lives.
Susan was born February 10, 1947 and raised in St Louis, MO. She was an honors student and ASB president at Lutheran South High School. She graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in Biology and from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing with an RN Degree. She enjoyed working in pediatric nursing. She married Dr. Dennis Boyce on July 27, 1970. After a few years living in Chicago they moved to Modesto, CA, where Dennis and Susan raised their children. She was active in her community, volunteering with various organizations. She was active at Grace Lutheran Church with teaching Sunday school and bible study, and was instrumental in starting Grace Lutheran School. After Dennis passed away she moved to Seattle, WA in 2016 to be closer to family and joined Trinity Lutheran Church.
Susan loved traveling the world with her beloved Dennis throughout their 41 years together. She was an exceptional host, cooking and entertaining with Dennis. She taught her grandkids how to bake, and enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with them. She was known for her beautiful personal style, always dressing with flair and sending cards with meaningful notes to friends and family.
Although we will feel her loss profoundly, we rejoice with Susan that she is now in her heavenly home with her Creator.
