

Taylor "Bud" Sandvigen of Seattle, WA, died at Virginia Mason hospital, surrounded by family and close friends on June 24, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Bud was born May 25, 1926 in Seattle and grew up on Queen Anne Hill. He was the child of Ingval A. "Sandy" Sandvigen and Trudy Taylor Sandvigen. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1944, he joined the Navy and served as a corpsman in WWII. Upon return, he attended the U of W graduating with a degree in Public Health, became a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and met his wife, Helen Patricia Costello Sandvigen. He worked in Washington and Oregon until he was called back to serve as an officer in the USAF during the Korean War. Following the war, he spent his entire career in Oregon and retired as the Director of Oregon State Accident Prevention Department. After retirement, he returned to Seattle to pursue his many interests, which included travel and volunteering at the Seattle Aquarium. He is survived by: his son and his wife, Mark and Cheryl Sandvigen, his daughters and their husbands, William and Jane Jones and Kurt and Sara Brickner and his grandchild, Isaac Taylor Brickner. Services will be held, Saturday, July 25 at Butterworths Funeral Home, 520 W. Raye St., Seattle at 11am.
