

Vera Gastfield Wolfe 90, passed away April 10, 2017 in Edmonds, WA, two years after suffering disabling strokes. Vera Evelyn Hall was born to Neill and Amy Hall in Seattle on August 29, 1926. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and briefly attended the University of Washington before marrying Kermit Gastfield in 1945.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents Neill and Amy Hall, Kermit Gastfield, her husband of 54 years, and Jack Wolfe, her husband of 9 years.
She is survived by her brother Dean (Audrey) Hall, sister Eleanor Hall, her three daughters and sons-in-law: Janine and Dennis Russell, Gail Gastfield and Richard Record, and Barbara and Tom O'Brien; six grandchildren: Charles (Kerri) Russell, Stephanie (Matt) Fritts, Sean O'Brien, Kelli (Erik) Schoen, Colin (Katie) O'Brien, and Shannon O'Brien; and eight great-grandchildren: Samantha Goodman, Isaac, Naomi and Luke Fritts, Amaru and Matias O'Brien, Bella Russell, and Aria O'Brien; niece Debbie Hebert and nephew Craig Hall.
Vera was a gifted designer and seamstress of her own and her daughters' clothing, as well as an excellent cook and talented artist. She began painting when her youngest daughter entered school and later taught drawing and painting in their basement art and picture framing studio. Kerm was the master framer and Vera was his customer consultant. She was a gracious hostess for many family and community gatherings. She was a longtime member of Olympic View Community Church in Seattle and later of Grace Community Chapel in Mukilteo. Vera taught Sunday School, tutored in after school programs, led Girl Scouts, and volunteered at church camp and other projects. Vera was a tiny dynamo with a vivacious spirit and a sparkling, dimpled smile. She was an empathetic listener and loved unconditionally.
Vera spent most of her life in Seattle and moved to Lynnwood after Kerm's death, most recently living at Fairwinds Brighton Court. After her strokes she lived at Genesis Adult Family Home in Edmonds. The family would especially like to thank Kate, Lanell, Don and Lisa at Genesis for their skilled and loving care for Vera.
A celebration of Vera's life will be on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Lake City Christian Church, 1933 NE 125th St., Seattle, WA. If you would like to remember Vera, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity.
