April 10, 1950 – November 13, 2021
Vicki Jo Denning was born in Seattle, Washington, on April 10, 1950, to Robert E. and Angie (Motland) Denning. She was the younger of two daughters, along with sister, Judy. Vicki grew up working in her father’s restaurants. Her favorite was the Fish Boat in Edmonds, where she made milkshakes and visited with her friends who came by. She attended Edmonds High School and graduated in 1968. On April 12, 1969, she married Robert E. Spencer. They had two children: a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Jana.
Vicki loved the city of Edmonds and considered herself blessed to spend most of her life there. She loved the beach, the downtown, and watching the ferries come and go with the Olympic mountains in the background. She complained miserably when, for a brief time, she lived just outside of Edmonds city limits and had a Lynnwood address...(Sorry Lynnwood.)
Vicki experienced many hardships and struggles in life, but she found joy in the great love she had for her family. She was funny, thoughtful, generous, and gorgeous. She was the mom all the boys had crushes on, even up through high school when it got creepy. She loved irises and clothes and Hallmark movies and the color purple. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Vicki died at her home, peacefully in her sleep, on November 13, 2021, at 71 years old. Those who loved her have been devastated by her sudden death, even as we rejoice in the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ, in whom Vicki placed her trust, and his promise of a life eternal where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more tears.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Amy) Spencer of Oak Harbor, WA, daughter Jana (Brett) Osborne of Puyallup, WA, sister Judy Dye of Edmonds, WA, grandchildren Bailey Osborne, Taylor Osborne, Luke Spencer, Peter Spencer, and Anders Spencer, niece Cheryl (Doug) Pittman, niece Tami Dye, nephew Ken Dye, great niece Faith Dye, best friend Mary Jo Baker, and her beloved Lhasa Apso, Sadie. She was preceded in death by her parents.
