

Bill was born in Warriormine, West Virginia to Mae (Baldwin) and William Johnson. His family lived in various places before settling down in Phoenix, Arizona. Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1952 and served four years. His final deployment was on the USS Missouri in Bremerton, Washington.
In 1956, Bill married Margaret Schumacher and attended Seattle Pacific College (University) where he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education Degree. Together they had seven children. After 28 years of marriage, they divorced.
In 1990, Bill married Ayako Watanabe. He taught in Seattle Public Schools where he later became principal at different elementary schools. He retired in July 1993 after 33 years in education.
Playing golf, bowling and traveling were some of Bill's hobbies and interests. He also enjoyed listening to country music in his "Cowboy Room".
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wesley and his daughter, Sara. He is survived by his wife Ayako, her children: Wayne (Margie), Ruth (Carter), Warren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his children: Will (Karen), Beth (Bruce), Todd (Glory), Brad (Krista), Eric (Cindy), Tory (Jessica), their mother Margaret, son-in-law Bernhard, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Robert (Martha), their children and grandchildren, his nephew Wes and stepbrother David.
