Frank Bryan Hunter, Sr. was called home by our heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at his home in McQueeney, Texas at the age of 66. He was born June 1, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas to Bryan O. and Jimmy Lou (Humphrey) Hunter. He was the eldest son of five children. In 1968, Frank married Shelia J Prater in San Antonio and together they raised their family and shared many adventures.
Friends and family are invited to Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 Hwy 46 S New Braunfels, Texas, on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10:30 am for Bro. Frank Bryan Hunter’s Masonic Funeral Rite and Inurnment service.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Shelia Hunter, his three children Christi Brinkman and her husband David; Sandy Hunter, and Bryan Hunter and his wife Sherry. He is survived by his ten grandchildren; Megan, Brandi, Toni, Jessica, Genna, Brandon, Emily, Tyler, Hailey and Zack, and his great grand-daughter Miranda. Frank also leaves behind his sister Frances Gleitz and her husband Paul, his brother Jim Hunter and his wife Janet, his sister Katy Garcia and her husband Johnny and his brother Rusty Hunter and his wife Susan as well as many nieces and nephews.
Frank held many things dear to his heart. First and foremost was his family; his Harley, fishing, boating, his love of living on the water, enjoying retirement and looking forward to traveling. He also enjoyed serving as a Master Mason and as a member of Patterson Lodge #1177 of San Antonio where he was the Past Master in 1991. Those who knew Frank knew how he enjoyed chewing on a good unlit cigar. His cigar was his signature stamp as Potentate for the Alzafar Shine in 2006 where he devoted a lot of his time. Frank enjoyed every aspect of the Shrine, from participating in the parades with the Chaparrals where he was a member and the yearly Shrine Circus where he served as a volunteer at the west gate every year since 1982. He was an avid Harley rider and a member of the Shrine Motor Patrol; as well as, the Antique Carriage Club where he enjoyed showing his 2006 Pontiac G6 and a member of the Hillbilly club, although he enjoyed being a part of all the units. Frank retired from City Public Service of San Antonio (CPS Energy) in 2004 after 35 years for dedicated service.
The family has requested donations be made to the Alzafar Shrine Children’s Hospital Fund in lieu of flowers where he dedicated 33 years of volunteer work for every parent’s child.
