Irene Joy Jackson Dickens

Irene Joy Dickens went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the age of 79 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was born in Mirando City, Texas on October 18, 1931 to Willard and Myrtle Jackson. Irene was a loving wife, mother and very “special” grandmother and great grandmother. Family was a very important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wesley Jackson and a son, Willard D. Dickens. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert H. Dickens, Jr., three daughters; Patsy Holcomb and husband Mike, Janet Blundell and husband Gary, and Martha Chapman and husband Curtis. A “special” blessing were her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; David Holcomb (Christy), Brent Holcomb (Tracy), Bass Blundell (Sarah), Buck Blundell (Sherry), Sarah Chapman, Laura Chapman, Lauren Holcomb, Ryan Holcomb, Katelyn Holcomb, Kayleigh Blundell, Madeline Holcomb, Olivia Holcomb, Bass Blundell Jr., Bridgett Blundell, Hunter Blundell and Brylie Blundell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vista Care Hospice at 1911 Corporate Drive # 104, San Marcos, Texas 78666 or to a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 7th from 1 to 5 pm at Goetz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Goetz Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Roy officiating on Monday, November 8th at 2 p.m. with interment following at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
