Mary S. Ramirez

Mary Salazar Ramirez passed away Monday, February 20, 2012, in Seguin , Texas , at the age of 74 years. She was born December 10, 1937, in San Marcos , Texas , the daughter of Basilio and Cleotilde Salazar. She was a resident of Seguin for nearly 26 years.

Mary married her husband Ralph on August 24, 1959 in Lubbock where she lived for many years before moving to Seguin . She was a dedicated member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for 40 years and served as a pioneer minister for over 30 years dedicating many hours a month to giving free bible studies and helping others learn about Jehovah and the promise of a paradise earth. She enjoyed cooking and participated in the construction of “quick build” Kingdom Halls for nearly two decades working in the kitchen. Mary maintained her faith throughout her illness, including her last days. She was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Alfonso Salazar, Luciano Salazar and Favaristo Salazar, and her sister, Mary Lou Garcia. Survivors include her husband Ralph Ramirez Sr.; children Betty Ramirez of Seguin, Hilda Flores and husband Manuel of Seguin, Ralph Ramirez Jr. of Lubbock, and Martin Ramirez and wife Natalie of Floresville; sister Clemencia Ojeda and husband Carlos of San Marcos; brother Martin Salazar and wife Andrea of Lubbock; her two grandchildren Stephanie Denise Ramirez and Marcos Levíh Ramirez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Chapel at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Elder George Guerrero officiating. Interment will follow in the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels. Serving as pallbearers are grandson Marcos L. Ramirez; son-in-law Manuel Flores; brother-in-law Carlos Ojeda; nephew Edward Garcia; and friends Guillermo Zepeda and Jessie Talamantez.
