Mary Lee Bartels Schmidt

Mary Lee Bartels passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012. She was born October 6, 1922 to Harry Robert Bartels and Lena Bauer Bartels. She attended Seguin High School and Texas Lutheran College. She was also a lifelong member of Cross Church. Mary loved to travel and dance. She also loved to keep up with Hollywood gossip and was noted for her “ice box cookies” and German Chocolate Cake. On May 30th, 1944, she married Dr. Hilton Arthur Schmidt and they had 3 children.

She is survived by her children; Ronald Schmidt, Harry Charles Schmidt and Sharron Lee Schmidt (Koebig); 2 grandchildren, Hilton Dare Koebig and Trevor Blake Koebig, sisters-in-law, Josephine Bartels and Harriet Phillips; daughter-in-law, Janie Schmidt; son-in-law Alfred Koebig and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Lena Bartels and brother Walton Harry Bartels.

Visitation will begin at 1p.m. on Thursday, January 19th until 6 p.m. with the family present from 5-6 p.m. in the Front Stateroom at Goetz Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20th, 11 a.m. at Cross Church with a reception to follow. Private burial service will be held at San Geronimo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cross Church.
