Listening to Ray's stories was always a treat.  How he met Fay, his time in the military, working at the peacan company, or tending his house and yard, all of his stories were a combination of truth and wit.  He also had many Aggie jokes, and would tell them to you even if you were an Aggie.

I first met Ray on Thanksgiving 1997, after Sandra and I had been dating for a couple of months.  Although I had a 6-inch goatee, he welcomed me into his house and made me feel like part of his family.  Over the years, being able to see Ray came with less frequency, but when we were able to make it to Seguin, it felt like we had only been gone for a short period of time.

Ray will be missed, but his memory will not be forgotten.  He left behind a great family and many wonderful stories.

We were honored to have such a loving Uncle.    He touched a lot of lives in a very positive way.   Always enjoyed his uplifting phone calls and never ran out of stories to tell us.   So appreciate his service to his country,  he was a true patriot.  Blessings to George, Janet, Kay and Sandra as well as his two beloved g-grandchildren.     Love,  Harold and Charlene

We agree with the other tributes that Ray was an amazing and special man. He could work in his garden on the hottest days of a Texas summer.  He attributed his strength to daily doing the calisthenics he learned in the Army, although he said his Jumping Jacks were not what they used to be! He could tell you every detail of the day he laid eyes on Fay and every word of their courtship.  He never complained and if asked how he was doing would reply,"I'm upright and taking nourishment!" Being Aggies, one of our favorite stories was how he "went through A&M". Every visit with Ray was a memorable one!  Ray Uhlig was a man of great integrity, a wonderful neighbor and friend.

My uncle Ray was a special human being.  My parents always enjoyed the weekly domino games.  He always was cheerful even when he felt bad. He planted a beautiful garden every year.  He will be greatly missed by all of his relatives.

Uncle Ray was so very special.  He taught me how to grill a delicious steak rubbed with garlic when I was a very young child.  His jovial phone calls were such a treat, and I loved his stories, jokes and political views.  I will miss hearing his voice, but I know we will meet again.  Most sincere sympathy to George, Janet, Kaye and Sandra and their families.

What can we say about Ray without saying we loved him as one of our own family.  He amazed us with all his interesting stories, including about him and Fay in the early years.  Of course, we also had to try to resolve the world's problems!  He would never complain, and he had a great sense of humor, always ready to share another one of his jokes.

Ray lived the Christian life, and we feel so blessed that our paths crossed with his.  He touched our lives, and he will always be in our hearts.  We send our love and sincere sympathy to George and all the family.

Mr. Uhlig was a friend to our family for many years.  He lived next door to my brother, Edward Woehler and Lydia Woehler.  I also went to school with George.  I will always remember them in my heart, good people. Shirley Hester

Uncle Ray was a very special uncle.  Although his eyesight was failing, he always acknowledged, with a phone call, all cards or gifts of fruit.  He always inquired of our crops and rainfall.  His mind was amazingly sharp.  (I hope I inherited that Uhlig trait.)  Mom always enjoyed those Sunday evening phone calls.  They are talking face to face now.  He has plenty of jokes (always clean!) to share with all in heaven.  Our love and condolences to George and family.

Ray was a very good friend to us.  He was friendly, caring and an outstanding Christian man.  We will miss his warm friendship and upbeat views on living as we think of him.  He is gone home now...it was a blessing that we had him here with us for so many years.  However, it was not long enough...we look forward to seeing him again.  Steve and Janice Springer
