

Ruben Zambrano was born on January 24, 1939 in Geronimo, TX and passed away peacefully on June 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Zambrano, and parents, Fernando and Juanita Zambrano. Ruben was a long-time resident of Seguin and took pride in his shoe salesman occupation. After leaving Seguin, he moved to Kyle where he lived with his daughter and most recently called the Texan Nursing & Rehab of San Marcos his home.
He is survived by his children Yvette Jones of Austin, Charles Zambrano (Jackie Perrault-Zambrano) of Dripping Springs, Sandi Montanez (Victor) of Kyle. He was a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, Christopher Cody and Megan Montanez, and Lauren and Alyssa Jones, and one great-granddaughter, Emery Bustamente. He was eldest brother to Dora Rodriguez (Gilberto) of San Antonio and Fred Zambrano (Elda) of Donna. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ruben was a kind and gentle man of few words and loved his Mexican food, anything chocolate, and Big Red. He was proud of the Texas A&M Aggies and wore maroon and white with pride. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to express our sincerest thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the loving and caring staff of Texan Nursing & Rehab of San Marcos as well as the staff of Vista Care Hospice whose care and compassion was unparalleled. With the support of these people Dad, grandpa, brother, uncle lived a happy and comfortable life and his final days and hours were peaceful and painless.
A memorial srevice will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel. A reception will follow in the stateroom.
