

Rufus Miller, Sr. was born June 6, 1931 at their family home in Kingsbury, Texas to Rand and Dovie Miller passed away on October 6, 2011 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by six brothers, seven sisters and his parents.
Rufus was educated in th Hoover Public School System where, in a Tom-Thumb wedding, he married Clara Taylor. They were wed again on March 16, 1950 and to this union five sons and four daughters were born.
He went to work as a construction worker, helping to build Kelly and Randolph Air Force Bases. In 1959, he began work with Seguin Milling Company, working to receive his CDL license. Rufus started a career as a truck driver in 1960 until he retired in 1993. He later returned part-time until 1997. His health began to fail and forced him into full retirement leaving him on dialysis for the remainder of his life.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Clara Lee Miller; two step-sisters, Erma Gibson and Maggie Morgan; nine children, Karen Redd (Wesley), Shirley Carter (late Jeremiah), Rufus Miller, Jr. (Patricia), Alfred Miller (Jonell), Michael Miller (Karen), Ralph Miller (Helen), Angela Miller, Donna Miller, Donald "Jody" Miller (Tina); sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held at Goetz Memorial Chapel 5-9 pm on October 12, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Wesley Harper United Methodist Church, 754 W. Court St, Seguin on Thursday at 11 am with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery. A reception will be held at Hierholzer Hall at the First United Methodist Church located at 710 N. Austin St, Seguin.
