

Violet Baenziger Armstrong was born August 24, 1918 to Otto and Hermina Lambrecht Baenziger in Seguin Texas. She was raised and educated in the Elm Creek community where her family resided on their farm. Violet worked from an early age at the family grocery store Baenziger’s Model Market. She married her husband Pete of 50 years in 1943. Preceded in death by her parents Otto and Hermina Lambrecht Baenziger; her husband, Pete H. Armstrong Sr; her son, Pete H. Armstrong Jr; two sisters, Melba Baenziger and Nora Atzger; two brothers, Harold Baenziger and Rubin Baenziger. Violet is survived by sister Ethel “Eddie” Pape; sister in law, Frieda Baenziger; daughters, Eileen Armstrong, Gail Springs and husband Danny, Merrie Armstrong and Jeff Plemmons; grandchildren, Tiva Armstrong, Nathan Armstrong, Staci Springs Baker and husband Shad, Lauren Springs, Kristyn Springs, Megan Springs, and Jason Springs; great grandson, Landon Douglass and numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Seguin where she was an active member teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir, participating in United Methodist Women as well as numerous committee’s and activities over her lifetime. Her faith was a cornerstone in her life. She was also active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, especially Troop 20 in which she was the co-leader of the same girls from Brownies until their graduation from high school. She also served several years as Day Camp Director and managed the sale of Girl Scout cookies for many years.
Violet loved to travel and had many journeys with her husband, friends, and family across America and abroad. She was an exceptional cook and will be remembered by many for the very tasty pies she baked for her family and friends – remembering each ones favorite on his/her birthday.
Violet lived a long and active life. She was a very loving and caring person who shared her talents and love with anyone who was in need. She was what every mom/grandma strives to be – living her life with strong Christian faith.
A visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Front Stateroom at Goetz Funeral Home from 8am -7pm, with family present 5-7pm. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 26th at First United Methodist Church in the Christian Life Center at 10am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
