Born on April 1, 1943, in Lublin, Poland, Eva lived a life defined by selflessness, vibrance, and abundant kindness. To know Eva was to feel cared for.
Eva grew up in Poland and Germany before immigrating to America at the age of seven. She lived in Buffalo, New York, where she met her husband, Dancé. They honeymooned in Miami and enjoyed Florida so much that in 1976 they moved their family to the Tampa Bay area.
Cooking was one of Eva’s greatest expressions of love. Every year, she gathered the women of her family to make pierogies for Christmas Eve dinner. It was a tradition filled with flour-dusted hands, stories passed down through generations, and laughter that lingered long after the food was prepared. Her warm smile and generous spirit brought people together naturally.
She shared that same warmth with her community as the owner of Eva’s Kitchen in Belleair Bluffs. The restaurant was known throughout the town not just for its food, but for Eva herself. To walk into Eva’s Kitchen was to be treated like family, whether it was your first visit or your hundredth. It was a gathering place, a second home, and a true reflection of Eva.
Eva treasured her family. She shared nearly 60 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dancé Stavrevski. Their life together was built on enduring love and an unwavering commitment to family. They raised their children, Steven and Sandra, as a testament to that love. As a wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, Eva carried deep love and joy for those closest to her. She proudly shared that her grandchildren were her world.
Eva is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dancé Stavrevski; her sister, Maria Picun; her daughter, Sandra Engeloff; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Stavrevski; her son-in-law, Greg Engeloff; and her cherished grandchildren, Summer, Skylar, Spencer, and Sienna Stavrevski, and Zachary Engeloff. She was preceded in heaven by her parents, Maria and Tymko Holobicky; her in-laws, Baba Kola and Dedo George; her brother, Joe Holobicky; and her beloved son, Steven Stavrevski.
Eva’s children and grandchildren always referred to her as the biggest angel with the biggest heart on earth. Steven and Sheila were blessed to live across the street from Eva and Dancé while raising their children, with Sandra and Greg, and Maria and her husband, Joe, all living nearby in the same neighborhood. The family’s closeness and unity were one of the greatest reflections of the love she fostered throughout her life.
She is also lovingly remembered by the many who called her “Baba” (grandmother) or “Chochi” (aunt), names that reflected the deep affection she gave so freely and received in return.
Eva’s legacy lives on in family traditions, shared meals, the family she created, laughter-filled kitchens, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and heart.
