Judith "Judy" Ann Hursh

Gordon and Marie Owen delivered a bundle of joy when they welcomed their baby girl Judith Ann on February 11, 1944 at Towanda, Pennsylvania hospital. Judy was the second of 4 siblings, 2 sisters, Joy and Emily, and her little Brother Billy. Judith attended Towanda High School where she graduated in 1961. She attended college at the Pennsylvania Rehab Center where she studied court reporting and graduated in 1964. While in college she met her husband Bill and fell madly in love. After graduation they resided primarily in the Pittsburg, PA area. Bill and Judy were married on vacation in Florida in 1965. In 1975, after a 10 year journey and many heartbreaks, Judy delivered her son Robbie at Greensburg Community Hospital. Judy and Bill were overwhelmed with love for their baby boy. In 1983 they decided to move to the St. Petersburg area to be closer to Bill’s Grandma. There Judy was a proud employee of the JC Penney Corporation at the Pinellas Square Mall. There she wore many hats and worked many long hours. This is where she practiced what she preached with hard work and a strong work ethic. She retired in 1997. In her spare time Judy volunteered as team Mom on the kid’s sports teams. She was the smallest person in the stands with the loudest voice. The officials began to know her by name. Judy and Bill always wanted a big family and wanted to make a difference in children’s lives. So they decided to become foster parents. They fostered for a total of 31 years. In that time they adopted 4 children, 2 sets of siblings. Two sisters, Nikki and Sam, and a Brother and Sister Tammy and Joe. They finally had the big family that they always dreamed of. Judy and Bill fully retired to Seminole in 2013. Upon retirement she loved spending time with her Grandchildren. This included watching and cheering them on at their various activities. One of her most precious days that she looked forward to was Grandparents Day and the Elementary school. At this event she was able to see the children in their environment at school, eat lunch with them, and spoil them by bringing them home early. Judy was a fighter, being told she wouldn’t make it through the night in 2005 and again and again in the years to follow. She had the strength and will to continue to prove them wrong. This is just a small portion of the beautiful life of Judy, amazing wife, the best Grandma ever, friend to many, and the most loved Mother anyone could ever have.

Judy is survived by her husband of 54 years, 5 children and many Grandchildren that she loved dearly.

She is now in God’s hands and will fly with the angels. We will miss you every day and will see you again someday.

Visitation held Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 4pm until 7pm at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home. Graveside Services held 10am Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery.
