Marvel "Patsy" Patricia Carney

CARNEY, Patricia “Patsy”, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 18th, 2017, just shy of her 88th birthday. Patsy was born in Miami. She owned a driveaway and answering service in Sarasota and Bradenton in the 50’s and 60’s and spent many fun summers working in Mt. Washington, NH. She bartended and lived at the La Playa resort in Redington Beach for 29 years. Her fondest memories there were made playing games and watching the sunset on the seawall with good friends and family. Patsy retired as the friendly “Bug Lady” from Terminix after 20 years. Patsy volunteered her time and donated to many causes. She was a long-time member of Cornerstone Community Church in St. Petersburg, FL. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, sharing recipes and especially her cats. Patsy was strong and passionate, sacrificing herself to help others, above all her family. She took great pride in raising her two granddaughters since 1985, she jokingly called their trio “The Three Broads”. Patsy was preceded in death by her loving father, Horace; caring stepmother, Mary; birth mother, Lois and youngest daughter, Charlotte Pierce. She leaves with heavy hearts, her daughter, Lois Nairn; son-in-law, Stan Pierce; 4 grandchildren, Thomas (Nancy) Wnuck, Robert (Christen) Dodson, Mary (Steve) Patz and Bonnie (Nabil) Mualam; 8 beloved great-grandchildren, Sean Wnuck, Victoria Wnuck, Kyle Wnuck, Theodore Patz, Eleanor Patz, Addison Dodson, Caitlin Dodson, Lauren Dodson, as well as her church family and many dear friends. Patsy was one of a kind and will be truly missed. Her memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, 6745 38th Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL, on December 9th at 1:30PM. A private inurnment will take place at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery, Seminole. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest making a donation to the SPCA, Suncoast Hospice, or to her church in her honor.
