Mary Lou Coffman

Mary Lou Coffman, a cherished resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on August 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on December 5, 1937, in the town of Spring Hill, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Ruby Elizabeth Baker and Charles Brown Baker. Mary Lou's journey through life had her graduate from South Charleston High School, and then on September 9, 1957, she united in marriage with her husband, John Lionel Coffman.

Mary Lou’s life was a testament to her passion for nurturing young minds. She made an indelible mark as a Pre-School Educator and was the visionary founder of a pre-school teaching aid business that touched the lives of countless families. Her unwavering dedication extended into her spiritual life as a devoted member of Park Street Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, where she ardently supported the missionary community through heartfelt prayers and correspondence.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving family: her daughter Debora, along with her children Sarah and Laura; her son Donald, along with his children Elaine, Celeste, and Christina; and her son James, along with his children Brianna and Micah. Mary Lou’s enduring legacy of love, faith, and compassionate service will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Life is but a stopping place,

a pause in what's to be,

a resting place along the road

to sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,

different paths along the way.

We all were meant to leave some things

but never meant to stay...

Our destination is a place

far greater than we know.

For some the journey's quicker,

for some, the journey's slow.

And when the journey finally ends,

we'll claim a great reward,

and find everlasting peace

together with the Lord.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Park Street Baptist Church, 3901 Park St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 3901 Park St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
