Michael Porter

Michael Owen Porter, Jr., age 80, peacefully passed away while surrounded by his friends and family on March 28, 2020. Michael was a nature and animal lover. According his friends, there wasn’t a dog he could resist rescuing. Mike was a lifelong thespian with a passion for music. Active in the local community theater, Mike was a colorful character with a deep baritone voice. He brought heart to every production, whether leading or supporting, with his roles. He was also an active leader at the Youth Center of Greater Harrisburg, lending understanding, support and education to all.

After earning his degree from the University of Washington, Mike returned to his home state of Pennsylvania to work on two subsequent master’s programs in applied economics and education. Mike was a devoted teacher with over 53 years in the classroom, and his legacy will be carried forward by each young life he touched.

If desired, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the SPCA of Pennsylvania or a charity of choice.
