Patti was born on August 29, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mary Wolatkiewicz and James Wiley. She graduated from Saint Hubert’s with her diploma and carried the strong sense of community and compassion she developed there throughout her life.
She married William Chestnut, and the two shared many happy years together until his passing in 2021. Patti dedicated much of her professional life to caring for others as an Activities Director at a senior care facility, where she brought joy, laughter, and meaningful engagement to the residents she served. Her passion for people—especially the seniors she worked with—was evident to everyone who knew her.
Patti was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 273 in Madeira Beach, Florida. She lived life with spirit and authenticity, embracing every moment and never losing her sense of adventure—even getting new tattoos at the age of 70.
She is survived by her loving son, Anthony Broadwater; her sisters, Carole Wiley, Eleanore Luczkowski, Marian Wiley, and Arlene Wiley; and many extended family members and friends who will remember her warmth, humor, and vibrant personality.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Chestnut; her son, Barry Broadwater Jr.; and her brother, James A. Wiley III.
Funeral services will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date, to be announced.
Patti will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, and joyful spirit will live on in the memories she created with family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a local Veteran’s charity in Patti’s name.
