R. "Kip" Kippen Janes

Kip Janes, of Seminole, FL passed away on Sunday, November 17th after a brief illness. Kip was predeceased by his parents, H.A.L. “Jimmy” and Susan M. Janes, as well as his brother, Philip M. Janes. He is survived by his wife. Elisa M. Janes, and children Sarah E. (Janes) Wilkinson and her husband Kevin Wilkinson of Flagler Beach, FL; Julio “Ric” Ricard and his wife Cheri Ricard of Shady Shores, TX; Robert K. Janes, Jr. and his wife Jenell Smith Janes of Old Lyme, CT; and Leonor Elisa Purzak of Plainview, NY. Grandchildren include Robert K. Janes, III and his wife, Lauren Midgette of Wethersfield, CT; William Janes of Manchester, CT; and Ryan Wilkinson and his wife, Gabrielle Wilkinson of St. Augustine, FL. He had one great grandchild, Sadie Janes of Wethersfield, CT.

Kip was an extremely proud United States Marine Corps veteran and was discharged with the rank of captain. He retired from Aetna, Inc. after 35 years of service and ended his professional career at the Litchfield Insurance Group. After moving to Seminole, he was involved with Rotary International, assisted with animal-related causes, and served as a “southern outpost” supporting UConn Husky men’s and women’s basketball.

Services will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, FL at 11:00am, December 10, 2024. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, FL.
