

Jay was born on November 3, 1952, in Miami, Florida, to Thomas Jefferson Cribbs and Patricia Upchurch. He was a proud graduate of Clearwater High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
Jay dedicated part of his life to serving others as a basic medical specialist for nearly three years. He also followed his calling as a chaplain, offering comfort, guidance, and compassion to those in need. He was a man of faith who found joy in helping others and living a life of service.
On February 25, 2023, Jay married Cheryl L. Cribbs. Together they shared a deep bond and companionship. In his free time, Jay had a passion for fishing, finding peace and happiness on the water.
Jay will be remembered for his kindness, his faith, and his dedication to his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl L. Cribbs; his sons, Nathan Edward Cribbs and Allan Cribbs; his daughter, Lisa Marie Cribbs; his brothers, Patrick Cribbs, and Donald Cribbs; his sister, Deborah Cribbs Davenport; his grandson, Kyle Duane; his daughter-in-law, Donna Cribbs; his nieces, Pateeka Murphy, Amanda McClam, Allison McClam, and Bussey; and his nephews, James Anderson and Wallace Eugene Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Cribbs and Patricia Upchurch, his brothers, Daniel Cribbs, Randy Cribbs, and sister Patricia Youngblood.
Jay’s life was a testament to faith, service, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131 Street North, Seminole, FL 33776, US, on March 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at the same location on March 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
