Dear Delores and family,
Will always remember the fun we always had together over the years.  Hard to believe that my dad joined him in heaven just a week later, know they are catching up on old times.  He will certainly be missed.

I will always have wonderful memories of "Mr Murphy". That's what he will always was to me, so much love and laughter in the house, whether it was a bunch of 13 yrs old girls, or the grown -ups. As I fondly remember my childhood- the Murphy house hold a special place in my heart. All my love to "Mrs Murphy, Linda Denny,Terry, Al, Shirley & Tom."  Cathy(Ludwig) & Tom

Delores, our hearts go out to you. You and Gene really added to our Sunday School class. I will never forget the times Gene expressed his opinions. He was always so careful not to hurt anyone's feelings. He was a dear, sweet man whom we will miss very much.

Gene was a really good man. As a former Marine I really respect what he went through in WW2. He was present and witnessed one of the most iconic moments of the war - the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. 

I have only known him a few years but I am happy and proud that he thought of me as his friend and pastor.

Dolores, Linda, Terry and Shirley, Our hearts go out to all of you on the loss of your Dad.  I will always remember him with a smile on his face and everytime I was ever around him, he was always making me laugh.  With him being so wonderful, all of you will have nothing but fond memories. What a dear sweet man. We just loved hearing his opinion and thoughts in Sunday School. He was always so up beat and always had a smile and a hug for me (Mary) He loved his family so much. We will miss him terribly, but know he is still smiling down on us. We love you Delores and girls.

I will never forget how Gene reached out to me before my surgery a year ago. We met for lunch and talked about his experience 23 years ago and what I would go through. He helped me with some very tough decisions. Gene will be deeply missed.

Dear Delores and Girls:  I was so blessed to have known Gene. When I first met the two of you I thought you were a wise and wonderful couple.  WhenI met your girls I thought you were wise and wonderful parents.  True mentors in the ways of God.  We were all blessed to have known Gene,and I remember his remembrance he shared on the day he met you, Dolores.  He thought you had the most beautiful brown eyes he had ever seen.  My thoughts are with all of you at this time.  To Linda, Terry, and Shirley -- I think you had a great dad who was so proud of you.  Stay close.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. All of us at OUMC will feel his loss, for he was a good friend and a kind and gentle man. My last memories of him are at the coffee fellowship, when he was so happy and proud to have all three girls there. He will be greatly missed by our entire church community. Rest in peace, Gene.

Gene was a personal hero to me...he was one of 3 men I looked up to besides my own father and my step-dad.  His gentle spirit and friendly, kind heart was what made me always say to myself that I wanted to be Gene Murphy when I grow up.  I will always consider myself so very fortunate and privileged that he called me "friend."  Dolores, Linda, Terry and Shirley - and all the family - you are among my very dearest friends in the world and my heart aches with yours at this time. Dolores,
Gene was a great friend. We really enjoyed having him and you in our SS class. He had a wonderful life and a tremendous family and is now where he truly is "just fine!"
