He was born in Easton, Md. He was a WWII Veteran and a long time resident of Seminole, FL. He spent most of his career working for the Dept of Defense stationed in Europe. In the 3 months following the death of his wife, Mercia, he nearly gave up on life until moving in with his son and daughter in law where he began a new life. He loved to write his memoirs, walk around the neighborhood and dance at the Highland Lakes Club, which is where he met his new love Winnie. They formed a close bond, sharing their personal stories with each other, exercising in the pool, working on jigsaw puzzles and going to parties and cookouts. His many friends all agree it was his warm smile and easy demeanor that will be missed most.
He is survived by his son William Merritt (Tillman) McCauley (Stacia), Daughter, Deborah Moore (Dan), granddaughters Jennifer Milazzo, Dawn Cora, Step Son, Malcolm Stewart (Nancy) and step-granddaughter Heather Stewart, great-grandchildren and his best friend Winifred Morton.
Services will be private.
