Karl Joseph Oldfield was born at Fort Lawton, WA, in Seattle, March 5, 1961 to Allan Oldfield & Carolyne (Seyfried) Oldfield.
Registered as an official Army Brat, Karl started out on the right foot. He and his father spent time involved in scouts and Karl went on to develop a love of sports. At 6’7” tall his favored sport became basketball and he loved to play.
Karl eventually moved from Seattle to Sequim to be closer to his Aunt Barbara Oldfield, whom he thought of and loved as his mother, and his Uncle Joseph Oldfield.
Karl saw his future wife working at Ben Franklin and proceeded to get a job there. The rest is history. They married August 6, 1988. During their life together they were blessed with a son, Dane Oldfield.
Karl passed his love of sports on to his son along with his love of humor. Karl was always happiest making someone laugh or making a great trade with one of his friends on his fantasy football league.
The song that comes to mind, for his son Dane, when he thinks about his dad is “Big Bad John”. Like the song, Karl would have given his life to save others. That’s just the kind of man he was.
Karl died October 03, 2011, from a massive heart attack. I know if he could, he would tell you all: “Take care of yourselves.”
We will miss him desperately and love him forever. To no longer have his strength and humor will be one of the greatest challenges we face.
“And Honey, don’t worry; I promise I will feed the animals”
Memorial contributions can be made to any local animal rescue shelters.
Arrangements under the direction of Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, Sequim, WA.
