Mom was born in West Seattle of parents William E. and Judith M. (Bennett) Fisher on July 1, 1919, the first of two children. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1938. On May 17,1941 she married John P. Stein, Jr. They lived and raised their children in West Seattle. After 30 years they moved to Kingston.
Isabel and daughter Mary started Kingston Garden Shop, where she was known as ‘Dirty Gurtie’. She was an avid gardener and could be found on her knees dealing with the plants and weeds about any time the weather allowed. In the last couple of years her physical ability to garden was gone, with it her joy in life began to fade.
She is survived by daughter Elizabeth “Liz” (Larry) Phelps of Sequim and son John P. “Paul” (Jayne) Stein of Vancouver, Wa., three grandchildren Gerald Rogers, Janet (Abe) Scurlock, and Joe (Noelle) Stein and 4 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by husband John, daughter Mary, brother Bill Fisher, and half sister Clara Norton.
A family and friends memorial gathering will be held the end of August.
Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
