

Charlotte Ratledge Pringle, 99, of Holden Beach, N.C. died Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at the Loris Extended Care Center in Loris, S.C. Born in Clarksville, N.C. to John Fred and Flossie Joyner Ratledge in 1924, Charlotte later moved to the Guilford College area with her family.
Charlotte was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, sister-in-law, grandmother, and aunt, and a beloved friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Charlotte attended the Bryan School of Business at Women’s College in Greensboro, and after moving to Winston Salem with husband, Don, she worked for Retail Merchants Association as an executive assistant. Charlotte retired in 1983 and headed to Holden Beach with her husband where she lived for 41 years. Charlotte loved this beautiful island and enjoyed many visits from family and friends. She was devoted to Don and very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Charlotte was an active member of Winston Salem Friends Meeting and later of Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte. She also volunteered with husband Don at the battered women’s shelter, Hope Harbor, and two adult daycare centers in Brunswick County.
Preceded in death by her parents, John Fred and Flossie Mae Ratledge, her husband of 59 years, Donald Edland Pringle, baby daughter. Patricia Susan Pringle, son, Donald Edland Pringle, Jr. of Holden Beach, N.C., baby brother J. Fred Ratledge, Jr., brother Curt Ratledge of Atlanta, GA, brother Hayes Ratledge of Greensboro,N.C., nephew Randy Hobbs of Siler City, N.C., sister-in-law Nancy Ratledge of Greensboro, N.C., sister-in-law Jacqueline Ratledge of Atlanta, GA, sister-in-law Isabel Ratledge of Colorado Springs, CO, sister-in-law Jane Pringle Davis of Darlington, S.C., and brother-in-law Tom Davis of Darlington, S.C.
Charlotte is survived by daughter, Catherine Pringle Casanova and her husband, Gerard Casanova of Hamden, CT, three grandsons, Justin, Seth, and Ryan and wife Tamorah, and step-granddaughters Alexine and Marielle. Also surviving are sister, Fredda Hobbs of Pittsboro, N.C., brother, Bill and Amanda Ratledge of Jamestown, N.C., brother Bob and Sherry Ratledge of Tuscon, AZ, sister-in-law Betty Ann Pringle Tucker of Greensboro, N.C., and many beloved nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service for immediate family on Friday, May 3rd at New Garden Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C. Pastor Terry Williams of Camp United Methodist Church, Shallotte, N.C.will preside.
