Faye Galloway Edens

March15, 1937 – April 28, 2023

Faye Edens, 86 of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord Friday, April 28, 2023 peacefully at home.

She was born in Supply, NC on March 15, 1937 to the late Carl and Ethel Galloway. She was married to Victor “Vic” Edens for 50 years before his death in 2013. Mrs. Edens worked at the Southern Bell / Bell South / AT&T “the telephone company”, as she affectionately referred to it over her 37 year career. She started as a switchboard operator, a job she truly loved, before becoming a drafter in the engineering department routing phone cables. She loved the Lord and was an active member of Temple Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and held various jobs until 2019 when she moved to Georgia with her son and his family. She was devoted to her family and was invested in their lives, always willing to help others and share the gospel with anyone. Faye loved anything having to do with the water, growing up in Varnamtown she spent time enjoying the salt air and warm sunshine. Her Grandfather was the lighthouse keeper on Bald Head Island and her father and brothers were fishermen.

One of her most difficult challenges in life was being diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis which required her to have a double lung transplant at age 69. With the help of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the great team at Duke Pulmonary, what was to be a short 5 year life extension ended up being a 16.5 year testimony of faith.

She is survived by her son, Darron Edens and wife Kassi of Monroe, GA; two grandchildren, Blakelyn Edens and Seth Edens; brothers Ronnie Galloway and wife Sylvia of Varnamtown; Gary Galloway and wife Judy of Varnamtown; Maurice Galloway and wife Linda of Varnamtown; sister-in-law Ruby Galloway of Varnamtown; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Victor Edens; brother Gene Galloway and his wife Helen and brother Jimmy Galloway.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3. 2023, at White Funeral Home, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, NC.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church 1801 Market Street, Wilmington, NC, 28403, with Dr. Mark E. Gaskins officiating. Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Forrest Edens, Sam Edens, Corey Galloway, Gary Ross Galloway, Hubert Jr. Varnam and Seth Edens.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Temple Baptist Church.
