Henry Whitaker Williams

Henry Whitaker Williams passed away on June 29, 2019. He was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on May 17, 1941 and grew up in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was the eldest son of Herbert and Leota Williams of Laurinburg, North Carolina.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol, devoted children Mary Catherine (Cathy), Karen, Ken and Adam. He is survived by his siblings, Nina Nethery and her husband Richard, Rick Williams and his wife Pat, and Judy Howie and her husband Houston. Henry leaves grandsons, Dustin (and his wife Jessica) and Andrew Clemons, and two great granddaughters Hailey Marie and Luetta Violet. Henry was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jesse Daryn Williams. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many in both Maryland, where he lived for many years, as well as his home state of North Carolina.

Known affectionately as The Captain, Henry was loved, respected, revered and truly cared about by a great many people. He flew, he sailed, he hiked, he sought out always the natural world and he loved a sunset.

Family and friends will be gathering at 4700 Sugarberry Drive, Roark Woods Community Center in Shallotte, North Carolina 28470 on Saturday August 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm. All are welcomed.
