Hinton Alfred Fulford Sr.

Hinton was born May 6, 1928 in Brunswick County, son of the late Newman Fulford and Edna Clemmons Fulford. He attended school until 8th grade at Hog Bay School that was located on Mt. Pisgah Road and completed his educated in the Army receiving his GED. He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1947 until 1950. After his discharge he worked for Norfolk Dredging Company and Atkinson Dredging Company from 1950 until 1972, beginning as a leverman and retiring as Captain. In 1974 he started Fulford Heating Air Conditioning and retired in 1986. In his years after retirement, he enjoyed fishing and working on anything he could take apart and put back together. He enjoyed gardening and was famous for his collards, sweet potatoes, and watermelons. Being around his family, especially his grandchildren brought him great joy. He was a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church, former member of Brunswick County Shrine Club and drove the #OO for the Sudan Thunderbolts and was also a Jester. He was also a former member of the Shallotte Lodge 727 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Fulford, grandson Trey Fulford, sister, Lorraine Matthews, brothers, Foy Fulford and David Ottis Fulford.

Survivors include his children, Gail Beck and husband Rudy, Al Fulford and wife Teresa, Marty Fulford and friend Sharon, and Beth Boling and husband Reverend Gary Boling; grandchildren, Heather Clemmons and friend Paul, Rachel Hewett and husband Brandon, Justin Fulford and wife Christina, Brad Fulford and wife Kaytie, Drake Phelps and wife Allie, Taylor Phelps,Mark Thomas II and Morgan Parrish; great grandchildren, Gavin Clemmons, Garrett Clemmons, Avery Hewett, Brennan Dosher, Sophia Fulford, Alana Fulford, Brielle Fulford, Kai Fulford, Riley Fulford, Jade Fulford, Wyatt Phelps, and Emily Phelps; great great grandson, Ethyn Clemmons; step-grandsons Andrew Boling and Devon Boling; sister, Jackie Long and husband Mack; and granddog Tucker.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 12, 2021 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Boling and Reverend Foyd Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Drake Phelps, Justin Fulford, Bradley Fulford, Brennan Dosher, Garrett Clemmons, Gavin Clemmons, Taylor Phelps, and Randy Robinson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from one o'clock until two o'clock at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice or Brunswick Sheriff's Charitable Foundation.
