James Lester Murphy

Jim, a veteran of the United States Army was a husband, father, grandfather and devout man of God, who lived a life marked by unwavering faith that he instilled into his family and the countless lives he touched.

In 2000, he retired from his illustrious career as an Instrumentation Technician. Spanning over 40+ years, his dedication extended well beyond his professional life. He passionately served the church community that included being a Sunday School teacher, a biblical financial counselor, and a devoted deacon, with his most recent contributions felt at First Baptist Church Shallotte.

He had a passion for flying and a joyful enthusiasm for sharing stories of his childhood and family adventures, some of which were published in the Webb City Sentinel.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Kathy Murphy, his 3 children Sean Murphy; Richmond VA, Kevin (& Lisa) Murphy; Fredericksburg VA, Katie (& John Paul) Creason; Carrsville VA, Four grandchildren Hunter Murphy, Conner, Ella Claire, and Max Creason, and all of his extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at eleven o’clock in the morning at First Baptist Church of Shallotte with Pastor Bob Weathers officiating. Burial will follow in Gurganus Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from ten o’clock until eleven o’clock at the church.
