Bill was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1953 to Patricia (Bellamy) Tall and Jasper W. Tall, II. He attended Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio. He began his career delivering TVs at Rent-A-Center and worked his way up to Regional Manager. It was a 27-year career and he retired as the longest working employee of the company. He couldn’t stay retired for too long and returned to work in banking. His last, and favorite job of all, was driving the bus for Brunswick County Transport Authority, driving the elderly and people with special needs. While driving the bus, he was beloved by the passengers who called him Bus Driver Bill.
The love of Bill’s life was Donna (Gearheart) Tall. They have been married 43 years and have lived in Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, Zanesville, OH, Leland, NC, and finally settled in Carolina Shores, NC. Bill and Donna raised two children, David and Stacy, and have three grandchildren, Justin, Joey, Mattie, and one great-grandchild, Harlee. Bill and Donna were active with Valorous Church and loved giving back to their community. Bill was very proud to serve as part of the Campus Watch for Valorous Church.
Bill will always be remembered for his kindness, work ethic, and sense of humor. He was the king of dad jokes, puns, and pranks. Every story he told left people questioning whether there was a joke coming at the end. He was an amazing grandfather and great-grandfather who could captivate any child with his playfulness. Bill was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Denver Broncos fan. He had an ear for good music and loved the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Christian music. Bill had a sweet spot for animals and loved to spoil his two dogs, Zeke and Chucky.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Tall; his father, Jasper W. Tall II; his sister, Julie Tall; and his daughter, Patricia Jusak. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, David Wells and Stacy (Wells) Davidson; his grandchildren, Justin Wells, Joey Wells and wife Josie, and Mattie Davidson; his great-grandchild, Harlee Wells; his sister, Mary Adams; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at 11:00am with service to immediately follow at 12:00pm on Friday, January 31, at Valorous Church, 2100 Firetower Rd., Little River SC, 29566.
