Jean "Joan" Hewett

Ms. Hewett was born in Brunswick County on June 1, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Clossie Phelps Mooney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Shelton Hewett, four brothers, Marvin Mooney, Morris Mooney, Norman Mooney and Thomas Jerry Lewis, two sisters, Mabell Kelly and Betty Clemmons. She owned and operated Hewett's Greenhouse for many years and enjoyed spending time in the river clamming and oystering. She loved life and loved her family. Jean was a member of Shell Point Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Mooney of Shallotte; a grandson, Richard Mooney of Shallotte; a brother, Steve Mooney of Shallotte; two sisters, Myrle Mooney of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Lora Clemmons of Shallotte and a special nephew, Anthony "Mikey" Clemmons of Shallotte.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 21, 2025 at three o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service Lou White Memorial Chapel, 3660 Express Drive Shallotte. Burial will follow in Shell Point Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Ricky Dale Clemmons, Ricky Dale Clemmons II, Brandon Clemmons, Jacob Dean,Scott Anderson and Sophia Anderson. Honorary pallbearer will be William Kelly.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
