Born in Randolph County, NC on July 14, 1938, he was a son of the late Elon and Effie Cole. He was a loving husband who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He also was a NASCAR, Kyle Busch fan. He was retired from Union Carbide and the NC Zoo. Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Lawhorn and Verna Dean Caudill.
Surviving are his loving wife, Martha C. Cole; a daughter, Pam Gibson and husband Mike of Winston Salem, NC; a son Jeff Cole and wife Jo of Asheboro, NC; two step-daughters, Debra Riley and husband Brian of Kernersville, NC, Mary Hatley of Gibsonville, NC; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
