He was born February 23, 1939 to Jesse Lewis and Ezma Johnson Lewis. Jesse grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University. In 1960, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he made his career in the insurance business until his retirement in 1999. Lew loved the outdoors; whether it was fishing, hunting, playing tennis or golf. He especially loved sailing with his brother, Dr. Bob Johnson on Bob's sailboat in the Caribbean Islands.
Lew is survived by his wife Sue Johnson; daughter Gwin Ricard; son, Clint Johnson; step-son, Tim Jones; and two grandchildren, Emily Ricard and Harlee Johnson; one niece; and two nephews.
