Born on January 10, 1941, in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, Jude was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Schwalm of Dairytown, Pennsylvania, and Melva Lee (Helsley) Schwalm of Grafton, West Virginia. She was the cherished sister of Elizabeth “Betsy” Lou Jaracz of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Edward Harry Schwalm of Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Jude graduated from Oakmont High School in 1958 and, in 1960, married her high school sweetheart, Steven (Steve) Maiorca, beginning a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion.
Jude is survived by her beloved husband, Steve, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage; her daughters, Maureen (Maiorca) Mukhlis of Little River, South Carolina, and Marilyn (Maiorca) Dellinger of Calabash, North Carolina; her son, Steven Nicholas and Buffy Maiorca of Lake Placid, New York; her grandchildren, Talia Mukhlis and Tara Mukhlis of Little River, South Carolina, Nicole (Dellinger) Naughton (Andrew Naughton) of Winchester, Virginia, Ashley (Dellinger) Rodriguez (Juan Rodriguez) of Fort Washington, Maryland, Taylor Maiorca and Steven Andrew (Drew) Maiorca of Lake Placid, New York ; her great-granddaughter, Amelia Beck (11); her great-grandsons, Michael Naughton (4) and Connor Naughton (3); her nieces, Jamie Sue (Schwalm) Enscoe and Bridget (Schwalm) Hartman; and many extended family members and dear friends who cherished her deeply.
To those who knew her best, Jude was a constant—steady, loving, and always present. She never missed a milestone and had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel deeply loved and cared for. She was the heart of her family, a source of strength and comfort, and someone others could always count on. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be remembered forever.
Jude was employed as the manager of a real estate office located in Silver Spring, Maryland and her husband Steve served as a metropolitan District of Columbia police officer before they retired and settled in Calabash, North Carolina in 2001. Jude found joy in golfing alongside her husband, spending time at the family cabin in Emlenton, Pennsylvania, crafting, and relaxing at the beach. Most of all, she treasured time with her family—long conversations, shared laughter, and meaningful gatherings. Her door was always open, her heart always full, and she was always there for anyone in need.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to a local hospice organization, in gratitude for the care and compassion shown to others.
