Kathy Sherrill Gettman

Kathy was born in Gaston County on August 25, 1949, daughter of the late James Monroe Sherrill, Sr. and Elener Dilling. She enjoyed reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite crime television shows like, NCIS, Bones, Criminal Minds, and Blue Bloods. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her pets. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Brian Gettman.

Survivors include her children, Wendy Hewett and husband Mark of Bolivia, Renee Lindsay and husband Marcus of Callaway, Virginia, Waylon Gale McGee, Jr. and wife Kathy of West Virginia, and John Lester Barbazon, Jr. and wife Alicia of Florida; ex-husband, John Lester Barbazon, Sr.; sister Linda Calloway of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Victoria Hewett, Zachary McGee, Tabitha Holland, Nicholas McGee, Matthew Hewett, Breanna Jones, and Cody Jones; and three great grandchildren, Vivian Maroldt, Elizabeth Hewett, and Sofia Hewett; and one great grandchild on the way.

Graveside services will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, North Carolina on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at one o'clock in the afternoon.
