I had not seen Kathy and Jack for many years and one day I got a message in my work email that asked if I was the person Kathy had gone to high school and college with so long ago. Kathy and I were good friends growing up and we were roommates for one year at Western Carolina before I transferred. Unfortunately, time, work, and distance kept me from staying in touch. I was visiting in Barnardsville, Weaverville, and Cullowhee just last week and thought of her.  Told my husband about the many times I rode back home from Cullowhee for the weekend with Kathy and Jack when we were students at WCU. I’m very, very sad to learn of her passing. Prayers for comfort for Jack and the beautiful family.

Though it’s been many years since Kathy and I worked together at Melvilles in Hickory, she has always been a very special person and someone I considered a good friend. Kathy was truly one of the Angels God sends to us to make the world a better place. She made a difference in the lives of all those she met. I am so blessed God put Kathy in my path.  Treatments aren't fun but I looked forward to seeing her and talking with her.  For total strangers, we had so much in common.   She brightened my day and I know that she did the same for you.  She is such a sweet soul and has a special place in my heart.   Jack, Anna, Dean, Aubrey and Grady - all of you are in our prayers.  I just don't know what to say or do, but Earl & I will be happy to help you in any way we can.   Big hugs for all of you and I hope we can visit you soon and give you hugs.

I am so saddened to hear of Kathy’s passing. I have many fond memories of her while at West. She was a wonderful co-worker and an inspiration to both students and teachers alike.   I pray that God’s grace and good memories will comfort her family in the days ahead. 

I am deeply saddened to see the news of her passing. As a middle school students at West Alexander, Kathy was such a positive influence on my life. We had many conversations about the Lord. She always had a gentle word and wonderful smile. She was a true servant. I am now 32 years old, teaching elementary school music in Alexander county. It’s folks like Kathy, I remember each day while trying to make a difference in the lives of students.  You all will be in my prayers !

Kathy brought joy to many adults and children in her time at West.  I loved stopping by her room to to have a little chat at the beginning and/or end of each day at school.  She was so positive and a great listener and motivator.  She was such a blessing to me and my girls lives!

I had the privilege of working with Kathy for a short time at West Alexander Middle School prior to her moving to Ocean Isle.  She was a precious lady and such a blessing to me and all those around her.  She was a ray of sunshine to so many- making all our days brighter.  Prayers for your family.  Thankful that Heaven is her home. 

So sorry to hear this. We still have hairbows Kathy made for my daughter Meredith. Now her  daughter Amelia who is 4 wears them. Blessings and love to all the family. Kathy was a wonderful person.

I had the privilege to work with Kathy for many years and she was one of the most positive, upbeat  and witty ladies that I ever worked with at West.  What I remember the most about her is the Christian faith she modeled through out the years. We often talked about our faith and especially about family and how important the two were to us.  I was so happy for her to be able to spend the last years with her grandkids, whom she spoke of so much.  We often meet people on our journey through life and I am so Blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Kathy at West for several decades. She will truly be missed.

So very sorry.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  Kathy was a very loving and caring person who we greatly enjoyed working with during our years at West Alexander.  

Kathy and I met in our Sunday school class at Camp, then we became co-leaders in the Children’s ministry.  Kathy had such a calming way with the children. They would huddle around her as she explained our weekly Bible story.    She always made me laugh with her humor.   Kathy was a true modern day disciple who shared her love of Jesus through her actions and words.   Love you Kathy ❤️
