

Born on May 20, 1930, in Broadway, VA, Lester was the youngest of ten siblings and the beloved son of the late Samuel and Grace Crider. In 1950, he married his wife Mary and relocated to Aiken, SC, were they raised three children Doris, Jerry and Susan. He proudly served in the U.S Naval Reserves and later dedicated over forty years of service to Dupont in VA and SC.
Lester was a proud member of the Freemasons, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners. He lived a life marked by devotion to his country, his community, and above all his family. He was a man of great wisdom, quiet strength, and enduring kindness, offering guidance and love to all who knew him. He loved spending time with family, traveling, and especially camping. Finding joy in the simple moments and creating cherished memories with those he loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man who lived his life with honor, generosity, and grace.
Lester was predeceased by his wife, Mary; daughter, Doris Capps; parents, Samuel and Grace; and his nine siblings.
He is survived by his loving family: son, Jerry (Belinda) Crider of Supply, NC; daughter, Susan Crider of Tennessee; grandchildren: Angela Turner of North Augusta, SC; Kyle Capps of Clearwater, SC; Cody Capps of Anderson, SC; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Olivia Turner, Brandilynn Capps, and Cody Capps, Jr.
A memorial service to celebrate Lester’s life will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on September 23, 2025, at 11:00am.
