Martha was the 3rd of 5 daughters born to Ralph and Catherine Bayer. She had 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. She loved to crochet, especially blankets requested by friends and family as keepsakes. Martha enjoyed hosting dinners, cooking for parties, and playing board games, especially Scrabble with those who could stand the competition. She moved to the coast of the Carolinas when she retired to avoid the cold winters of the Midwest where she had spent most of her life. During and after lengthy careers at Oscar Mayer (Kraft Foods), Louis Rich and ConAgra Foods, to name a few, she met many people and forged strong friendships. In later years, she found a new passion for travel in which she shared with her friends or did by herself. England was a favorite destination where she visited often and stayed with friends whom she considered family. She boldly went on an adventure to Alaska where she found that her passion for travel was real. Martha will make one final trip to Castlerigg Stone Circle in Keswick, England, via one of her closest friends, as her final wish. Martha collected artwork that included paintings, pottery and blown glass made by local talents. Martha encouraged a love for the arts as well as reading, particularly Stephen King novels. Throughout her life, Martha volunteered for many causes which included Girl Scouts, Special Olympics and the court system as a Guardian Ad Litem for children in need of representation. In addition, she served on various other smaller civic projects and boards in her spare time. She inspired perseverance, independence and success in others. Martha and her contributions will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.
According to her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services.
