Melva Jane Hewett Smith

Melva was born in Brunswick County on May 21, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Alma Hickman Hewett.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Earl "Hollis" Smith; a son, Robert "Kerry" Smith and wife Kay of Supply; a daughter, Tammy Smith Abel of Ocean Isle Beach; grandchildren, Wesley Abel and wife Christina, Kassi Grainger and husband Devan, Taylor Smith and Michelle Abel; two great grandchildren, Kristin Abel and Ruby Grainger and one great great grandchild, Kadence Mae; a special sister in-law, Helen Bellamy and two nieces.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 21, 2023 at two o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service Lou White Memorial Chapel, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte with Reverend Jason Benton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mintz Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Wesley Abel, Taylor Smith, Carlton King, Scott Roberts, Billy Hickman and Eddie Cain.

The family will receive friends Tuesday June 20th from six o'clock until eight o'clock at the funeral home and other times from the residence.
