

Michael C. Gause, 67 of Longs, SC died Sunday May 7, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Florence. After 2 1/2 years of battling stage 4 lung cancer, Mike has now won the battle and has made Heaven his new home.
Mr. Gause was born in Horry County, SC on November 20, 1949 and was the son of the late Needham Cloye Gause and Eloise Bennett Gause. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy M. Gause.
Mike had a great love for music and spent many years as the band leader and lead vocalists of Carolina Gold along with other various bands. During a time in his life, Mike worked at Myrtle Beach Speedway and sang The National Anthem before their races. Over the last two years he has enjoyed singing at Oak Grove Baptist Church where he was an active member. He was an avid Mustang enthusiast and looked forward to Mustang week annually. Mike was very passionate about animals and over the years has taken care of fifty or more feral cats; four of them which reside in his home. Mike was also a dedicated baseball coach, dad and major fan for his sons. Above all else, Mike truly loved spending time with his family and many friends he has made over the years. He was a hard worker, loving husband, and devoted dad who will surely be missed. He owned and operated Long Bay Seafood Inc. of Longs, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Greta Evans Gause; four children, Garrison Gause of the home, Jordan Gause (Brittany), Cody Gause, Chandler Gause all of Loris, SC; two grandchildren, Emma and Carter; three sisters, Linda Hardee (Larry), Nancy Morris (Lee), Theresa Harrison all of Longs, SC. 16 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 13, 2017 at one o’clock in the afternoon at Oak Grove Baptist Church 1356 Holden Beach Rd. SW, Supply with Reverend Kenny Locklear officiating. The interment service will be private.
Pallbearers will be Mark Gore, Jamey Hewett, Heath Hardee, Chad Hardee, Brent Gilbert, Dillon Morris.
There will not be a visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be directed to Oak Grove Baptist Church.
