Orbie E. Inman

Mr. Inman was born in Whiteville, NC on July 2, 1945 and was the son of the late Orbie Johnson Inman and Ethel Ilene Milliken Inman. He served with North Carolina National Guard and Army Reserve. He retired from CSX Railroad after many years of employment where he was a flagman, brakesman and conductor. He was an avid gardener and loved fishing and also collecting antiques and attending classic car shows. Mr. Inman was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise Hammonds Inman, a son, Jonathan Charlie Inman, a brother, Roy Inman and two sisters, Wanda Inman and Carol Jane Inman Buck.

After Eloise's passing Eugene married six years later to Doris Jacobs Register. Doris has been a loving and devoted wife and caregiver. Their marriage afforded them both rekindles romance that included travel, time spent with family and many new friendships.

Eugene is most honored and remembered by his family and friends his shinning grace and unwavering faith in God and for his overwhelming love and compassion for all people.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jacobs Inman of the home; a daughter, Cyndi Eloise Britt and husband Tony of Whiteville; a son, Dr, Jeffrey Eugene Inman of Vermont; grandchildren, Phinease Inman, Austin Britt, Morgan Britt, Sunnie Morales, Summer Nobles and Jo Nathan Inman and numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Sondra Ganus of Shallotte and Elizabeth “Lib” Sellers and husband Keith of Bolivia.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 4, 2025 at four o’clock in the afternoon at Jennies Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Brown, Mark Buck, Steve Buck, Matthew Brown, Daniel Buck and Austin Britt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Devan Penny and Garrett Joe Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
