Paul was born on December 9, 1946 in Vermont, son of the late Paul Holmberg and Eloise Johnson Patnode. After graduating high school he enrolled in college but was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War.
He had a very dry sense of humor and everyone knew if he picked on you, he loved you. Paul was a "Jack of all trades" and his nickname was McGuyver because he could fix anything. His passion was working on cars, watching car auctions as well as car racing. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making toys or picture frames for his family and grandchildren that he cherished so much. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be immensely missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Simon Holmberg and sister, Patricia Leighton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Holmberg of Shallotte; two children, Erik Holmberg and wife Jessica of Shallotte and Michelle Rivers and husband Jeremy also of Shallotte; eight grandchildren, Caden, Camron, Izzy, Hailey, Kinsley, Charlee, Noah, and Owen.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service in The Lou White Memorial Chapel located at 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte NC with Reverend Mark Hicks officiating.
