Rebecca V Hawes

Rebecca was born in Brunswick County on October 1, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Lina Gray Hawes. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Merle Gray Hardee. She graduated from Shallotte High School and attended Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. Her career was working in the insurance business for over forty years in North Carolina and Virginia. She was an insurance agent for many years at Brunswick Insurance Services of Supply. She served on the Planning Board of the Town of Shallotte many years ago and also served as president of the Brunswick Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She was a member of Cross Rock Baptist Church of Shallotte.

In her later years, Rebecca enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She also received her license to cater. She loved helping and doing for others. Her last years she resided and Brunswick Health and Rehab Center in Bolivia,NC. where was very grateful for the care she received there and the many friends she made during her stay there.

She is survived by a sister, Rachel H. Jackson, several nieces and nephews, and her adopted sister, Eleanor Tucker and sister in Christ Reverend Gloria Weimer. Her very special extended family includes, Waddell and Judy Clemmons, Leamon and Kim Clemmons, Jody and Lauren Clemmons and children and many others that Jesus brought into her life.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday March 5, 2025 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Cross Rock Baptist Church, 340 Mulberry Street, Shallotte with Reverend Tommy Inman officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to a charity of one's choice.
