Scott Michael Brown, 62, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Born on October 3, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Scott lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
A graduate of Pittsburgh’s Hampton High School in 1980, Scott embarked on a career that spanned more than four decades. He worked diligently in warehouse management and retail, earning the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Most recently, he was a valued member of the Merchandise Service Team at Lowe’s in Shallotte, NC.
Scott was a man who found joy in life’s everyday pleasures. His love for the coast was evident in his favorite pastime—walking along the beach, searching for treasures like sand dollars and shark teeth. Whether it was a quiet stroll or a spontaneous trip with loved ones, Scott embraced every opportunity to explore and enjoy the world around him.
A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, Scott never lost touch with his roots. He also proudly identified as a ‘Parrothead’, embracing the music and laid-back lifestyle inspired by Jimmy Buffett. After relocating to North Carolina nearly five years ago, he became a member of Seaside United Methodist Church.
Above all else, Scott cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Julie Ann Brown; his children Brendan Brown (Kylie Brown); Brandi Brown Ottavio (Jordan Ottavio); stepchildren Jon Browning; Bill Browning; Rebecca Browning Young (Nathan Young); Elizabeth Browning Schneider (Brian Schneider). He was a proud grandfather to Iyla Ottavio; Judah Young, Asher Young, Naomi Young, and Grace Schneider.
Scott is also survived by his sister Valorie Brown Mattarochia-Stas and brother Donald Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Donald Brown, and father-in-law Ned Price.
In honoring Scott’s memory and love for community service and nature preservation, donations may be made to the Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department or the Sunset Beach Turtle Watch Program.
May Scott’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life well lived, rooted in hard work, family devotion, coastal wanderings, and joyful tunes carried on ocean breezes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Seaside United Methodist Church 1300 Seaside Rd SW Sunset Beach, NC . The family will greet friends following the service, with light refreshments to follow at the church.
