

Shirley Hewett Thompson, 89, of Supply, a woman of deep faith and remarkable strength, passed away peacefully, embraced by the love of her family and the grace of God on June 19, 2025. She was a devoted mother to three children, raising her family with love, patience, and unwavering faith. She especially found joy in singing in the choir as a member of Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Charlie Hewett and Carrie Hewett; devoted husband, William Arthur Thompson, and beloved daughters, Sherry Dosher and Jeanine Thompson McCumbee.
She is survived by her loving son, Wayne Thompson and wife Debbie of Ash; her sons-in-law: Don Dosher of Supply and Tim McCumbee of Supply; her treasured grandchildren: Tavis Thompson and wife Candace, Tasha Thompson Williams, Jessica Dosher, Chad McCumbee and wife Stephie, and Zachary McCumbee and wife Leanne; her great-grandchildren: Taylee Williams, Cameron Thompson, Cathryn Thompson, Cannon McCumbee, and Kinley McCumbee; and her brothers: Johnny Hewett and wife Linda of Whiteville and Joe Hewett of Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 23, 2025 at Three o'clock in the afternoon at Dixon Chapel Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Negron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tavis Thompson, Tasha Thompson Williams, Jessica Dosher, Chad McCumbee, Zachary McCumbee, and Cameron Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Karen Varnam Harris and Frances Lancaster.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
