

He was born June 29, 1915 in Sheboygan to David and Elizabeth (Reimer) Wiegand.
He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Sheboygan Vocational School.
On November 25, 1939 Edwin and Frieda Wagner were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. Frieda preceded him in death on February 9, 1996.
During WW II Edwin proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force in the European Theatre, receiving an honorable discharge. In 2012 he was honored as the oldest WW II veteran during the Vet’s Roll trip to the WW II Memorial in Washington D.C. Barbara Sather assisted Edwin on that trip and became a dear friend.
He worked at Dillingham Mfg. Co for eight years before beginning his thirty-five year employment at Armour Leather, retiring from the maintenance department in 1978.
Edwin was a lifelong, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he sang with the choirs for thirty-three years and also served on Trinity’s school board. He was also a member of the American Luther Association and Sheboygan Lutheran High School Tap Root Group, the VFW Sheboygan Memorial Post #9156, and he enjoyed senior league bowling. He was an avid golfer until the age of eighty, achieving a hole-in-one in 1984.
He is survived by his son, Edwin E. Wiegand of Oceanside, CA; his daughter, Susan (Dr. Vincent) Bolton of Kennebunkport, ME; four grandchildren, Michael (Sheila) Bolton, Michelle (Daniel) Haim, Megan (Dr.Erik) Kabela, and Meredith Bolton; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jason, Celeste, Josephine, Matilda, Abigail, and Esther; one brother, Carl Wiegand of Florida; two sisters, Wilma (Kenneth) Allwardt of Kaukauna and Martha (Alan) Herzog of Sheboygan.
In addition to his wife, Frieda, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Wiegand and four sisters, Emma Herman, Marie Sprengel, Betty Brand, and Esther Wiegand.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave., Sheboygan. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name for Trinity Lutheran Church Senior Choir and Sheboygan Lutheran High School.
