Elmer Otto Wentz

Elmer was born June 29, 1924 in Kohler, WI to Harold and Hilda (Siegmund) Wentz. He attended various Sheboygan Falls Schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, Class of 1942.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during The European Theater from 1944 to 1945. Elmer had the privilege of participating in the Honor Flight in 2010.

On May 8, 1948 Elmer Wentz and Sophia De Vriend were united in marriage in Kohler. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2011. The couple resided in Sheboygan Falls for many years before moving to Sheboygan in the mid 80’s.

Elmer was a long time employee at the Kohler Company working in the Warranty Claims Deparment. He was employed at Luedtke’s Meat Market for many years as well.

Elmer attended Hope Strict Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling and flower gardening.

Survivors include his children, Alan (Susan) Wentz of Northridge, California, Wayne (Kaye) Wentz of Papillon, Nebraska, Gary (Christine) Wentz of Plymouth and Debra (Michelle) Wentz of Elkhart Lake; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrew, Nicholas (Sandra) Wentz, Brad (Karen) Steinhardt, Craig (Susan) Steinhardt, Samantha (Matt) LaPean, and Jessica (Daniel) Quasius; a brother, Walter (Frances) Wentz; a sister, Carol (James) Berge; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Irene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 a.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Pastor Gary TenBroeke will officiate. Entombment with full military honors will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
